POLICE are appealing for information following a deliberate fire at a Blackburn plastics factory after the fourth blaze in 10 weeks.

The latest incident happened at sometime between 4am and 5am on Monday (November 13th), at the disused V10 Polymers site on Paterson Street.

Nearby residents on Swan Street and the Paterson Estate were evacuated but were able to return once the fire had been extinguished. The building was damaged beyond repair.

Insp Abid Khan from Blackburn Police said: “We realise that this incident will be of concern to the local community, particularly given it’s the fourth fire in a matter of weeks.

“Round the clock security is in place at the site and advice to people living nearby remains to keep their windows and doors closed where possible.

“We believe this fire was caused deliberately and so if you have any information, or any CCTV which you may think could help us with our investigation into this and the previous fires, please get in touch.”
