EMERGENCY services are at the scene of a three-car crash in Blackburn.

Police have closed off Darwen Street at its junction with Jubilee Street following the incident at 3.20pm today.

A spokesman for the fire service said a silver Audi A4 slid on some diesel and crashed into a parked black BMW 320i, causing it to set alight. The BMW then shunted into the back of a parked Renault Scenic.

Firefighters had to cut into the BMW to get to the source of the fire.

The driver of the Audi was treated at the scene by paramedics as a precaution.

The fire service spokesman said it was not a high-speed impact.

A police spokesman said: "Were were called at 3.20pm today to a damage only collision involving three cars in Darwen Street, Blackburn. The vehicles involved were a black BMW 320i, a silver Audi A4 and a Renault Scenic."

Police remain at the scene while the vehicles are towed away.
