A 34-YEAR-OLD man attended court and was banned from driving on the day he should have been taking his driving test.
Blackburn magistrates heard Anthony John Holt was over the drink drive limit when he was stopped driving a car he had bought in anticipation of obtaining his driving licence.
Holt, of Honey Hole, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol, without insurance, other than in accordance with a licence and resisting a police officer by giving false details.
He was fined £280 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.
Jonathan Taylor, defending, said Holt had decided to "do things properly" and got his provisional licence and learned to drive.
"His test was booked for today and in the meantime he was offered this car," said Mr Taylor. "He bought it and was moving it the short distance from the pub car park to his girlfriend' address when he was stopped."
