COLLEGE students have created a luxury collection for leading bed linen manufacturer Peter Reed.

The three Blackburn College students will have their designs exhibited at the luxury Stafford Hotel in Chelsea as the Nelson company celebrates 150 years of manufacturing.

The students were briefed on creating the capsule collection with the winning designs picked for the exhibition.

Graphics communication student Abbie Riley won the overall competition.

She spent two weeks with Peter Reed’s in-house design team, realising and testing the design of her full bed linen set, which was then displayed in a dedicated bedroom at the hotel.

Sean Clayton, Peter Reed’s general manager said "Abbie's raw talent as a graphic designer, her feel for textiles and her positive attitude shone through.

“There's no doubt in my mind that she has a great career ahead of her and we're delighted to give her an opportunity.”

Winning designs were also selected by Waseema Sarah who studied contemporary textiles and Justyna Grabowska, a contemporary design for interiors student.

Tutor Jenna Gardner said: "The students were amazing and I am so proud of them all.

"The icing on the cake was when Peter Reed offered Abbie a full time role on completion of her degree."
