HUNDREDS of children met their cartoon heroes as the fair returned to town.

The family-friendly event, held in Blackburn’s Witton Park, runs until Thursday and has so far seen thousands of people from across East Lancashire have fun in the sun and rain.

One of the star attractions this year has been guest appearances from characters of the popular children’s TV show Paw Patrol.

Alan Cowie, from organisers Mega Value Fun Parks, said: “It has been great. Most people who have left have had smiles on their faces.

“It’s a family-friendly, security-controlled event.”

Entry is £5 for both children and adults and once inside rides are free. Among thee entertainment is a children’s rollercoaster, dodgems, falling bungie trampolines, bouncy castles, a fun house and stalls.

Blackburn father-of-three Ben Isherwood, 30, said: “It’s absolutely fantastic for the money we have paid. The kids are having a really good time. We’re definitely coming back before it finishes.”

Blackburn mum-of-two Susan Appuswami said: “The girls have had a really fantastic time. We would come back to it. It’s ideal for the six-week holidays. It passes the time and tires them out. It’s a good event for Blackburn.”

Entry times are between 1pm and 4pm, 3pm and 6pm and 6pm and 9pm,. The event closes at 6pm on Sunday.
