A COLLEGE has told of its 'disappointment and regret' as frustrated students await their delayed results.

A senior figure at University Centre Blackburn College has admitted it cannot yet give a date for publishing the information.

Students said about 800 are still without their grades nearly two weeks after 'results day'.

Some took to social media to express their anger over what they say was described as a 'technical issue'.

They say they are being 'left dangling' at a very important time in their lives.

Tracy Stuart, the college's vice principal for curriculum and quality, said: “We’re disappointed and regret that some students at the University Centre at Blackburn College have experienced a delay in the confirmation of their results.

“The college is undertaking a robust review of its data to ensure its accuracy. This has resulted in a delay which we are working hard to resolve. Blackburn College is currently scheduling the submission of its results.

“We have had regular contact and updates with our students throughout and have provided an information point where they can raise any concerns.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our students for their patience and understanding at this time. We look forward to welcoming back all students in September.”

Student Karen McErlean said the college should be held to account for the error over the publication date.

She wrote: "To date no clarification has been given as to when this will be and students are left dangling with no results to show for years of hard work and debt, with future careers in jeopardy if these results do not materialise.

"UCBC have to and should be held to account for this error.

"To make matters worse students are having to chase management for answers to when the results will be released."

Dulcie Holden wrote: "800 Blackburn university students still waiting for their degree classifications. We need these to confirm our future jobs or places on Masters courses.

"At this moment no definite date has been given. They got our £7,000 a year tuition fees and left us hanging on one of the most important moments of our lives. Absolutely disgusting behaviour - good luck to the students next year."
