AN eight-year-old avid Elvis Presley fan suffering with cerebral palsy is set for the trip of a lifetime thanks to his 'fairygodfather'.

An anonymous businessman is paying for Blackburn's Samuel Hosker and his parents to go on a trip to Graceland, the former home of Elvis Presley in Memphis, Tennessee.

The family set up a fundraising campaign in March looking to raise £30,000 for surgery not available on the NHS, which would prevent the Elvis fan from being wheelchair bound.

In June the family beat the target and have raised more than £60,000, which will go towards the surgery and the best physiotherapy and aftercare available.

Now the businessman, who also made a 'generous donation' to the fundraising, has arranged for Samuel to go on the special trip for a week towards the end of this month.

Mum Michelle Hosker, 38, said: "I just couldn't accept it at first, I was in such shock.

"Samuel couldn't believe it when he was told, he was just so excited.

"It's a once in a life time trip for us, and it's great that Samuel is able to do it now, he loves Elvis so much.

"We just can't thank him enough for the donations, it's been incredible the support we have had.

"We just call him our fairygodfather."

The trip will include a tour of the Graceland mansion, a walk around Elvis' private jet and a helicopter ride around the estate.

They will also be staying on the Graceland estate at the Guest House hotel.

The anonymous donor has also given Samuel a video camera to record his journey.

Reidy’s Music in Blackburn recently auctioned off an Epiphone Casino guitar signed by Paul Weller to raise money for Samuel's cause, which collected £2,163.50.

Samuel will be having his spinal dorsal rhizotomy surgery in September at at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.

Following surgery, Samuel, a pupil at St Peter’s RC Primary School, will have to undergo two years of intensive physiotherapy.
