TWO fire crews were sent to an outhouse building on fire last night (TUES).

The blaze in Ronald Street in Blackburn started after the occupant of the property ignited cardboard to create a small camp fire in the garden.

Unfortunately the fire had spread to an attached outhouse containing a large amount of general waste which ignited.

The two fire appliances were despatched at 11.20pm from Blackburn fire station.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue service spokesperson said: "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used Hosereels to extinguish the fire.

"Fortunately firefighters stopped the spread of fire from entering the house.

"Smoke alarms were activated in the property due to the amount of smoke present."
