A CHARITY has launched a global feeding campaign aiming to spread peace and feed starving people across the world.

Al-Imdaad Foundation UK, based in Audley Range, Blackburn, is to distribute £300,000 worth of aid including food in the next 30 days over Ramadhan.

Ramadhan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is observed by Muslims as a month of fasting.

The foundation’s Spread Peace and Feed the Hungry campaign, will see food hampers sent to 16 of the world’s poorest countries during the holy month, and is set to benefit thousands of people.

Country director of Al-Imdaad Foundation UK, Abdussamad Mulla, said: “The campaign which has been planned for the past three months includes distribution of food parcels for the fasting, new shelter homes, water sanitation and empowerment projects, with our global network we have our teams on the ground ready to deliver in over 16 countries.”

Countries that will receive the aid include Malawi, Indonesia, South Africa, Albania, Kosovo, Myanmar, Pakistan, India, Syria, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania and Yemen.

Al-Imdaad Foundation will also carry out a feeding programme in Lancashire with its Food for Thought teams.

In just two years, the organisation has said it has delivered more than 20,000 hot meals to the needy in Blackburn.

Mr Mulla added: “We would like to thank our donors and supporters for their contributions, without their valuable support this would not be possible.”

This year’s campaign has been named Spread Peace and Feed The Hungry which is a saying of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.

The foundation has said it has advertised this campaign all over the UK promoting peace, love and compassion.

The charity is also a signatory to the code of conduct for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movements and NGOs in disaster relief.
