POLISH workers in Lancashire are being given free lessons to improve their English thanks to a partnership between a manufacturing company and Blackburn College.
The college has teamed up with Blackburn's Precision Polymer Engineering to run courses to improve the English and maths of its workforce.
The Greenbank Road company, which manufactures precision rubber sealing for aerospace engines, oil and gas valves, has a large number of skilled Polish workers on its staff.
Ashley McCarrick, The firm's human resources manager, said: “The opportunity to help colleagues improve their confidence in English and maths as part of this Blackburn College programme is an important investment in the self-development of our team members, and can only be beneficial to the future."
