A MAN who was mowed down by his own car while trying to stop a thief from stealing it is unlikely to be completely mobile for two-to-three months, his family have said.

Abu Satia, 27, suffered ‘serious’ leg injuries when a man stole his £35,000 BMW from outside RI Tyres in Blackburn last week before running him over as he sped off.

The car was found abandoned in the Farnworth area of Bolton after thousands of people shared an appeal on social media.

Mr Satia remains in Royal Preston Hospital where he is due to have surgery on his leg and arm after already receiving skin grafts.

However, his brother Umar Satia said he should be out of hospital next week and is feeling much better in himself.

He said: “He is doing really well despite what he has been through and he was very happy to get his car back.

“It is thanks to all the people on Facebook for sharing our appeal.

“I think it was a really positive thing that thousands of people came together to help us overcome what these low-lives did to my brother.

“We now want to just find who did this so if anyone has any information please do call the police.”

Officers are continuing to try and trace the culprit.
