A STINGER was deployed after a 90mph police chase through a 30mph zone which ended in Darwen town centre.

The helicopter and dog unit were also called out as police attempted to stop the car which was spotted in the Audley area of Blackburn at around 1am on Friday.

Officers said a pursuit ensued with the car followed over to Darwen and then into Greater Manchester.

It returned to Lancashire while being followed by police and the helicopter.

A spokesman said the speed varied but at times reached 90mph in a 30mph zone.

The stinger was deployed and the vehicle stopped in Darwen town centre.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of theft and driving offences.

A man was charged with various offences and was in court on Saturday.
