A 34-YEAR-OLD man was arrested outside his home when he became aggressive towards police.

Blackburn magistrates heard Christopher Mark Scanlan felt aggrieved because the officers had not done anything about two people he claimed were trespassing in his house.

Scanlan, of Troy Street, Blackburn, admitted a breach of the peace and pleaded guilty to resisting a police officer. He was bound over in £120 to keep the peace for six months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said when police arrived Scanlan was very irate.

“He was demanding they removed people from his house,” said Miss Allan. “His ex-wife was present and she was asked to go to her parents’ house. Tempers and emotions were running high and the defendant was arrested to prevent a breach of the peace.”

Miss Allan said Scanlan resisted the officers as they tried to handcuff him.

Richard Prew, defending, said it had been over 10 years since his client appeared in court.

“On this occasion he was trying to point out to the officers that two people were trespassing in his property but they didn’t seem interested,” he added.
