A WOMAN who stabbed her boyfriend because he ate all the chips has been jailed.

Blackburn magistrates heard Diane Margaret Clayton, 34, initially slapped him in a row over fries but then armed herself with a knife and caused a superficial wound.

When their paths crossed again next morning Simon Hill emerged from a room with cuts to his hands and shouted, ‘She has stabbed me again’, the court heard.

Clayton, 34, of Limbrick, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assaulting Mr Hill, causing him actual bodily harm.

She was sentenced to 26 weeks in custody and ordered to pay £115 victim surcharge on release.

Parveen Akhtar, prosecuting, said the victim had refused to co-operate or give a statement to police. Shesaid the couple had gone to a friend’s house for drinks and chips were made.

“Simon Hill ate them all and that caused her to get angry,” said Miss Akhtar.

“She was seen to slap him across the face before leaving the room. She picked up a knife in the kitchen and then stabbed him causing a superficial injury.”

The couple left but Mr Hill returned to stay the night for own safety.

“She returned the following morning and Mr Hill suffered injuries to his hands,” said Miss Akhtar.

“He later told police he didn’t want to co-operate because she has mental health problems.”

Richard Prew, defending, said there had been no previous domestic incidents. and the couple had enjoyed a very supportive relationship until this incident.

“He didn’t want to make a complaint against his partner,” said Mr Prew.
