THE Lancashire Telegraph is set to move to a new home after putting its Blackburn offices up for auction.

But the change will not alter the Telegraph’s commitment to campaigning journalism and telling the people of East Lancashire what is happening in their area first.

Editor-in-chief Ian Savage said: “This is just the latest chapter in the history of the Lancashire Telegraph.

“In our 130-year history we have only ever been produced from two sites, both on Railway Road in Blackburn, so this decision has not been taken lightly.

“Unfortunately though, our current building is no longer fit for purpose for us – it is just too big.

“But we firmly believe that remaining close to our readers and advertisers is key to our business and ongoing success.

“Now we are looking forward to relocating to new modern offices which will be better suited to the production of a 21st century newspaper and award winning website.”

The four-storey building in Railway Road is being marketed by Auction House Commercial.
