A FIRE which destroyed a garage in Blackburn is being treated as suspicious.

Two fire crews from Blackburn and Hyndburn were alerted to the fire on Bank Lane at 3.50pm on Friday.

They found a garage which was 'well alight' when crews arrived on scene.

There were also several propane cylinders close to the garage which led to fears of possible explosions.

As a result, crews requested help and a further two appliances and crews, one each from Blackurn and Hyndburn went to the scene.

A fire service spokesman, said: "Firefighters tackled the fire using three main jets, thermal imaging cameras and respirator masks to deal with the incident and exintinguish the fire.

"There was severe fire damage to the garage and its contents as well as three fence panels from a neighbouring property."

There were no reported injuries.

He added that the fire was believed to have been started deliberately and a investigation is underway alongside officers from Blackburn with Darwen police.
