A FIRE broke out at the Royal Blackburn Hospital last night.
Two fire engines attended the blaze in the Hillview building, which is currently under refurbishment, at around 10.15pm.
Hospital staff could smell smoke from the construction area and raised the alarm.
The fire was caused accidentally by a workman soldering pipes earlier in the day.

This was discovered by firefighters using thermal imaging cameras which found an insulation board in the wall cavity alight.
Crews were at the scene for more than an hour preventing the fire spreading to wards above, which had people in.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "Where processes involving hot work are unavoidable, a strict, safe system of work to control the risk of fire arising from the activity is required.
"If the hospital staff had not raised the alarm when they did a far more serious incident would have occurred."
