A 26-YEAR-OLD woman was breathalysed after driving to McDonalds in the early hours to satisfy her autistic daughter's demands for chicken nuggets.

Blackburn magistrates heard police saw Jennifer Cyke driving away from the fast food outlet at 12.25am and were suspicious because she was driving very slowly.

Cyke, of Delph Approach, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and without insurance. She was fined £120 with £30 costs and banned from driving for 12 months.

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client's daughter woke late at night and was demanding chicken McNuggets.

"Farcical as it sounds they are the only nuggets she will eat," said Mr Taylor. "She was going on and on and getting more and more distressed and my client decided the best thing to do was appease her and stop her becoming more hysterical. She didn't feel she would be over the limit."

Mr Taylor said Cyke was driving her mum's car and was under the impression she was insured to do so.

"There was some kind of misunderstanding and she wasn't included on the policy," said M Taylor. "Her mother accepts that was her mistake."
