POLICE officers investigating allegations of human slavery in Blackburn are asking people who may have information to come forward.

On Monday, July 11, officers arrested a 55-year-old man from Blackburn at the Railway News newsagent on Railway Road on suspicion of slavery, servitude, forced labour and section 18 assault. He’s been bailed pending further enquiries until Thursday 6 October.

Detectives are now keen to hear from anyone who may have information which could help, including any knowledge of the alleged victim, a 55-year-old man also from Blackburn.

Sgt Ben Hodgkinson from Blackburn Police said: “This is a very sensitive investigation and we are continuing to work with partner agencies to ensure that the victim is offered adequate support.

“If you think you have come into contact with the victim or you know anything that could assist with our investigation please get in touch.”
