POLICE are wanting to trace Good Samaritan after Blackburn woman sexually assaulted.

The incident happened on the evening of Friday, June 17 when the 31-year-old woman, a sex worker, was picked up by a man in a car in the Bank Top area of Blackburn and taken around 20 minutes away to an unknown address where she was sexually assaulted.

The man is then thought to have dropped her off in an unknown area.

A short time later a man who is thought to have been driving a white car or van stopped to help the woman and took her back to Blackburn in the early hours of Saturday, June 18. He gave his name as Jack.

Detectives investigating the incident are keen to trace this man as he may have valuable information that could assist their enquiries.

DC Rob Sledge of Blackburn CID said: “The victim was subjected to a shocking ordeal and an investigation is underway to find the man responsible.

"It is thanks to the Good Samaritan who saw that the victim was in distress and helped her that she was able to get home to the Blackburn area.

"We are keen to trace this man as he may be able to help us identify the area in which the sexual assault took place.

" I would urge him, if he sees this appeal, to get in touch with us as soon as possible. Any information he can provide us could prove crucial to our on-going enquiries.” Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting log 796 of June 20.
