A MAINS mains water pipe has burst near to Blackburn's Thwaites Empire Theatre.
Damage has been caused to the road surface near the theatre, in Aqueduct Road.
There are traffic controls in place at the scene and delays are expected.
One lane from Aqueduct Road onto the A666 is currently affected by the burst water main.
Residents are being urged to approach with caution.
A spokeswoman for United Utilities said: “Police reported the burst pipe to us at 2pm today.
“We sent one engineer out as soon as we could to assess the situation.
“It isn’t affecting water supplies as far as we know at this stage but we will need traffic management.
“We have requested traffic lights to be put there temporarily to allow us to work safely.
“We will aim to get the road resurfaced and back to normal as quickly as possible.
“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
