A 19-YEAR-OLD man became abusive when ordered out of The Mall in Blackburn because he was barred.

Blackburn magistrates heard Bret Lee Hargreaves claimed he had already been in the shopping centre several times that week and had walked past the same security officer who ordered him to leave.

Hargreaves, of Addington Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour.

He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge.

The offence put him breach of an earlier conditional discharge imposed for criminal damage and for that he was ordered to complete a 24 hour attendance centre order.

Kerry Grieve, prosecuting, said Hargreaves was recognised as someone who was barred and ordered to leave.

He started shouting abuse at the officer and when he left started ripping up flowers from a flower bed.

Ian Huggan, defending, said Hargreaves did not think there was any problem with him going in the Mall.

He said: "He had been in the Mall several times that week and had walked past the same lady.

"When he was told to leave he became frustrated."
