A DRIVER crashed a car in to a wall in Blackburn before fleeing the scene.
Police have launched an investigation following the incident which has happened in Sumner Street at 6.45pm.
Residents have reported hearing a loud bang and when they have come out to see what has happened they have seen an abandoned silver Vauxhall Corsa.
Two fire engines from Blackburn Station attended the incident and made the scene safe, before handing the investigation over to the police.
Acting watch manager Lee Garnett said: "The vehicle had hit a wall on a terraced row of houses at speed.
"Occupants of the properties came out after hearing the noise, to find that the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene."
Mr Garnett said the vehicle suffered damage to the bumper and wing mirrors and is probably a write-off.
No other vehicles were involved.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
