Drink drive charge
CHRISTOPHER Bavington, 61, of Spring Hill Road, Accrington, was remanded on bail when he appeared before Blackburn magistrates and pleaded not guilty to being in charge of a motor vehicle while over the drink driving limit and possessing an offensive weapon, a sheath knife.
Shoplifter sentenced to 28 days
A REPEAT shoplifter was jailed for 28 days by Blackburn magistrates.
The court heard a police officer driving near Asda saw Darren Neil Murphy – who had something stuffed up his jumper – being chased by two security guards. The officer drove after him and eventually took Murphy to the ground and arrested him.
Murphy, 30, of Canterbury Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to stealing a DVD player from ASDA and the theft of two aftershaves worth £99 from Debenhams.
Not guilty plea
ISMAIL Ebrahim Esat, 56, and Khalid Ismail Esat, 31, both of Churchill Road, Blackburn, were remanded on bailed by Blackburn magistrates after pleading not guilty to using threatening behaviour towards Abdul Gani Mukadal.
Khalid Esat also pleaded not guilty to assaulting Mr Mukadal.
