A SHOP owner has said he has been left feeling 'personally attacked' after his store is burgled once again.

Muhammed Hussain, 37 who runs Smart Chocolate in Calendar Street by Morrisons, called the police at 9.15pm on Saturday, January 30, when he had found his shop had been broken into.

The police said that offenders had broken into the shop through the roof and took £30 in cash, along with a smart phone worth £400 and a hard drive recording system worth £200.

Mr Hussain, originally from Burnley who sells short-dated food at discounted prices in a bid to reduce food waste and help out low-income families said he was distraught to see similar events happen again.

He said: "I was upset the first few times but now I am just heart broken.

"I've had a very, very tough time in January and this has just made it all even worse.

"This may seem far-fetched but I feel I am personally being attacked due to fear of competition and success.

"It really is painful to be burgled four times and nothing has come of it.

"As a shop keeper what else can I do to prevent unlawful entry in my shop and I have felt so bad for having to turn away so many of my regular customers.

"Everyone knows that I run a small business with hardly any tangible asset compared to other shops around my location.

"To run a business I have to know I'm in a safe secure location and these sorts of events make you consider moving on."

Mr Hussains shop was broken into in June, August and October of last year when £100s worth of goods were taken along several £100s of damaged caused.

A police spokesman said: "The police were called at 9.15am on Saturday, January 30 to reports of a burglary of a shop being broken into via the roof of the building.

"We believe the incident has taken place between 6pm on Friday, January 9 and 9am on the Saturday.

"We have arrested a man on suspicion of burglary and has been released on bail until Tuesday, February 23."
