COMMUTERS faced major delays this morning after workers for United Utilities failed to manually operate temporary traffic lights along the A666.

BwD Weather Watch's Facebook page said workers outside the Anchor pub had failed to comply with the council's instructions.

It said: "United Utilities are working on the A666 outside the Anchor Public House, using temporary traffic signals.

"They are under strict instruction by The Council to manually operate these lights due to the high volume of traffic.

"They have failed to comply with this instruction, resulting in major delays along the A666.

"Please allow extra time for your journey today and we hope that these works will be off site by this afternoon."
