Mrs Rogers, who was nominated by her friend and colleague Sarah Flanagan, said it was nice the charity was being recognised for what it does.

She said: “I was quite surprised to be nominated. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the work done by our charity to be recognised and to reach a national audience, so that more people may hear about our work and use our materials.”

Mrs Rogers set up the ‘Every Action Has Consequences’ charity in 2010 with her husband Dave, which produces a wide range of educational resources to encourage young people to address the issues of binge drinking and potential consequent violence.

The charity was launched with the backing of the Lancashire Telegraph.

These resources are used in schools, colleges, prisons, young offenders’ institutions, in sports groups, youth groups and with apprentices.

Adam, 24, who was a Padiham ladies football coach from Blackburn, had been on a night out when he was punched, causing him to fall and hit his head Mrs Rogers will appear on the show today and voting for her will start on Wednesday.

The other two nominees, whose identities have not been released, will be unveiled on the show. The winner will be announced next Monday at a special 60th Anniversary Women of the Year Lunch and awards dinner at the InterContinental Hotel, London.
