Final warning

A 36-YEAR-OLD man smashed a car window and stole a small amount of loose change as he returned home from a party.
Blackburn magistrates heard Kieran Chatburn, of Lisbon Drive, Darwen, was on licence at the time, but was given a final warning. He pleaded guilty to theft, was given a 12-month community order and told to pay £250 in fines.

 

Driver ban

A 28-YEAR-OLD man who borrowed a friend’s van to move house crashed into a car while passing a parked taxi. Martin Stirling, of Northcote Street, Darwen, admitted driving without due care and attention, without insurance and other than in accordance with a licence. He was fined £245, must pay £105 costs and was banned from driving for six months.
 

Three in court

LAYTON Paul Beech, 24, of Westwood Street, Jordan James Hargreaves, 22, of Orange Street, both Accrington, and Gareth James Haworth, 29, of Rutland Close, Clayton-le-Moors were remanded on bail until October 26 charged with using threatening behaviour. Hargreaves also faces a charge of criminal damage and Haworth faces a charge of assaulting a police officer.

 

Sent for trial

DOMINIC Joseph McEvoy, 23, of Trinity Close, Padiham, has been sent for crown court trial in custody until October 29 by magistrates, accused of burgling a home in Herbert Street, on September 23, with intent to steal, and an alleged break-in at a house in Villiers Street when a ladies’ ring is said to have been taken.

 

Rubbish fine

SULTAN Alam, 30, of Clive Street, Burnley, has been fined £660, with court costs of £150 and a victim surcharge of £66, after he was convicted of failing to comply with a borough council abatement notice concerning the accumulation of waste behind a property in Colne Road on March 16.

 

Curfew after theft

MICHAEL James Wood, 42, of William Street, Colne, has been placed on a two-week curfew after he admitted stealing Star Wars toys worth £64.93 from Sainsbury’s on September 6. He must also pay a criminal courts charge of £150 and a £60 victim surcharge.

 

Man is bailed

LEON Uzan, 25, of Cherry Tree Terrace, Blackburn, was remanded on bail until October 24 by Blackburn magistrates charged with assaulting James Cole in Burnley on April 15.
