SHOPPERS are being warned to be extra vigilant when withdrawing cash from ATMs after police warned that thieves are operating in Blackburn town centre.
People have had cash withdrawn from their accounts by thieves who have looked over the victim’s shoulder to see their pin number, before bumping in to them to knock their bank card out of their hand and on to the pavement.

Once the victim has gone they have then picked up the card and accessed their account to withdraw funds.
A Lancashire Police spokeswoman said: “Please be vigilant when using the machines especially if there is someone standing too close.”
