AN ANTI-violence charity set up in memory of Blackburn teenager Adam Rogers is set to branch out in to primary schools.

Every Action Has Consequences was formed following the death of Padiham Ladies’ football coach Adam, 24, by a single punch on a night out in 2009.

His parents, Pat and Dave, have worked tirelessly in recent years to try and educate youngsters on the dangers of violence and the consequences of such actions.

Having spoken to thousands of teenagers across the county, through the National Citizen Service and visits to colleges and secondary schools, the charity has now developed a pack for primary schools as they try and spread the message to younger children.

Pat said: “We used to get asked an awful lot what we had for younger children and we never really had much, so we decided to develop a pack for primary schools.

“We’ve created an animation of Adam’s story, which we weren’t really sure how it would come out but in fact it’s really good.

“There’s also an animation of a young child whose anger builds up during the day and we see how that develops, as well as a video of children talking to people about alcohol and health.

“A lot of teachers have told us that children in primary schools do have issues with anger and alcohol, so hopefully this will be of benefit.”

Pat and Dave are aiming to launch the packs in October before visiting every primary school in the county to train teachers and staff in how to use the packs.

Pat added: “It’s great to be spreading the message further.

“We have worked with some primary schools and teachers to help make the packs suitable for them.

“It’s been piloted and we’ve had a great response to that.”

Yesterday youngsters achieving the National Citizen Service this summer spent time in Burnley town centre with Pat talking to people about Every Action Has Consequences.

Pat said: “It went very well.

“It’s hard to stop people in the street and talk about issues like this but they engaged people really well and it definitely raised awareness.”
