A FOUR-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after suffering serious injuries when knocked down by a car in Blackburn.
He was taken by the North West Ambulance Service to Manchester Children's Hospital following the incident at around 1.25pm on Saturday in Bastwell Road.
A green BMW car collided with the boy who was still being treated in hospital last night and is in a stable condition. His injuries include a broken leg.
PS 1615 Mick Young from the Blackburn Road Policing Unit said: “We know there were several people near to the scene after the collision and so if anyone did see the incident or the lead up to it and they haven’t spoken with us, I urge them to get in contact as soon as possible.
“This was a serious incident and we need to ascertain exactly what happened and how it came to occur.
“We have specially trained officers supporting both the family of the boy and also the driver throughout this difficult time.”
