SHADSWORTH Infant School has maintained its positive Ofsted rating from three years ago.

The Rothesay Road school was graded ‘good’ by the education watchdog following an inspection at the start of last month.

It previously received the same rating when it was last visited in July 2012.

Lead inspector Maureen Coleman said: “This is a good and improving school. The headteacher is inspirational and offers a clear and ambitious vision for the school.

“Early years provision is good. Children make good progress, particularly in their speech.

“Children are well prepared for learning in Year One.

“British values are well promoted though the exciting curriculum.

“This prepares pupils effectively for the next stage in their education and life.” She added that the pupils’ skills in maths were not always developed effectively and pupils struggle to explain their thinking in the subject.
