Traders on and near Railway Road and Salford are braced for a week of disruption when the road is closed next week.

The road will be shut from Tuesday until Sunday, May 31, for resurfacing and providing new white lines around the Cathedral Quarter and the new bus station.

It is the latest disruption on the street which has been plagued by roadworks since work on the cathedral development started around 18 months ago.

A Council spokesman said: “The works currently taking place on Church Street are in preparation for the town centre highway resurfacing next week.”

There will be further disruption in the town centre later this summer with road closure and resurfacing on Jubilee Street between Bridge Street and Darwen Street.

Taxis will also face disruption to their businesses during the six-day road closure.
