Demolition work began today on Blackburn’s Shadsworth Estate as part of a £3.5 million community redevelopment.
The old community centre on Rothesay Road is being bulldozed to make way for a new community hub and enterprise centre in a bid to regenerate the wider area.
The community hub scheme will provide space for five shops on the ground floor, with a multi-purpose space above for sports and recreation, a kitchen for breakfast clubs and cooking allotment foods.
It includes IT facilities for job clubs and ICT Training and a one-stop shop for advice on health, wealth and wellbeing.
