A SHARE offer by campaigners hoping to buy back their village pub has reached its final day.

The Dog Inn Belthorn Ltd, a community group set up to save the pub of the same name in Belthorn, has raised more than £85,000 in donations since the middle of April.

But the group has been told it will require £180,000 to buy the Belthorn Road venue off its owner, Ribble Valley Luxury Homes Ltd.

Residents used the General Election polling station at Belthorn Academy Primary School to drum up interest in the scheme.

Secretary Kathryn Sharpe said: “An open forum was held to answer any questions regarding this venture on May 6, at which time several different marketing designs for the rebranding of The Dog Inn were viewed and were whittled down.

“More than 20 share offer forms were taken home by visitors to the polling station on the day and we are hopeful that the aforementioned tally for the uptake of the share offer will increase further.”
