SUPERBIKE champ Carl Fogarty led more than 3,000 bikers in a charity event yesterday.

The Mellor resident, who became a household name when he won I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, took part in the Bike4LifeFest Ride Out 2015.

The 23-mile ride, one of the biggest events in the country, began at Meole Brace in Shrewsbury and finished at the event’s prestigious home at RAF Museum Cosford near Wolverhampton, where the Bike4Life Festival was under way.

And for Foggy’s East Lancashire fans, there were also two opportunities to see the Blackburn champ in action on TV yesterday.

He appeared on both The Gadget Show, on Channel 5, when he tried out the latest in motorbike technology, and on the new series of Celebrity Squares.

He was joined on screen by host Warwick Davis and comedians Tim Vine, Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, who were in squares in the iconic TV game show.

The game is based on the classic ‘Noughts and Crosses’ with a grid of nine boxes.

Inside each box are celebrities who answer questions.

Contestants have to say if they ‘agree’ or ‘disagree’ with the celebrity’s answer.

If they are correct they win that square and if they win three boxes in a line – vertically, horizontally or diagonally – they win the round and money, before the winning contestant goes on to play the end game for the star prize.

The Ride Out event raised vital funds for the Midlands Air Ambulance service.

Foggy said: “It’s a great honour to be leading the Bike4Life Ride Out.

“The life-saving work of the Midlands Air Ambulance is a vital lifeline for bikers and I am pleased to be able to support and raise awareness for this brilliant cause.”

Jason Levy, fundraising director for Midlands Air Ambulance, said: “Carl’s support of the event is fantastic. When we announced Carl’s involvement, registrations went through the roof.”
