AN OUT of school club in Blackburn has received a clean bill of health from the education watchdog Ofsted following its first inspection.

All Stars, which is based at Trinity United Reformed Church in Brownhill Road, was established in 2012 and was given a rating of ‘good’.

The club, which was inspected last month, currently has 41 children on its roll and is run by the Bryn Tracey and Leonie Roberts Partnership.

Lead inspector Cath Palser said: “Staff are enthusiastic and motivated. As a result, children of all ages are keen to participate in games and activities. Children are developing a good range of skills and attitudes that support their future learning.

“Staff effectively plan the environment with a range of good quality resources. These are freely accessible and meet the interests of the range of children who attend. As a result, children show they are self-motivated and confident.

“Children have a strong sense of belonging and their emotional well-being is promoted well by the staff. As a result, children are happy, make new friends and settle easily.

“Staff give priority to the safety of children and effectively support children’s growing understanding of how to keep themselves safe.”

She added that it was not yet ‘outstanding’ as the team has not yet developed an ongoing targeted programme of continuous professional development. Mrs Palser also said staff do not plan the outdoors play areas as effectively as the indoors environment.
