It was built as part of a two-week project and all of the students from the school have had the chance to learn about life at the front and at home.
The school also held a themed tea party and played period games as well as taking turns to learn about life in the trenches. The 4ft by 8ft trench included a medical tent and home-made rats.
Year four teacher and history co-ordinator Paul Mason said: “St James’s tried to bring life in the trenches during the First World War to life. The year six children researched the experiences of solders and made a mock up. This was used by the whole school during the two-week project.
“The pupils learnt about life during the First World War at home and at the front.”
