Blackburn magistrates heard the incident happened just two days after Ian Gibbons was released from prison.

And they sent him straight back into custody for the blatant breach of a court order.

Gibbons, 46, of Coleridge Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to breach of the order and was jailed for 18 weeks.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Gibbons was made subject to a suspended prison sentence and a restraining order on July 17. The suspended prison sentence was activated when he breached the restraining order.

“He was released from prison on October 3 and committed the breach two days later,” said Miss Allan.

She said his ex-partner was at her home at 8.35 pm when she saw Gibbons at her window.

The victim called police and Gibbons was arrested in the back alley behind her home. Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client had been to a friend’s house and was on his way home when arrested.

“He says at no time did he enter the back yard or verbally abuse her, but does accept that being in the back alley puts him in breach of the restraining order,” said Mr Taylor.
