WOMEN are being urged to make a stand against cancer by entering Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.

Event organisers are issuing the rallying cry ‘cancer, we’re coming to get you’ to mums, daughters, sisters, grandmas and friends, encouraging them to sign up as soon as possible.

Every hour, around four people are diagnosed with cancer in the North West.

The race will take place at Witton Country Park, Blackburn on June 26.

Sharon Hurst, Cancer Research UK’s North West events manager, said: “Please play your part by entering Race for Life at Witton Country Park today.

“Together, we can hit cancer where it hurts.

“There are over 200 cancers and we won’t give up until we find cures for them all.

It’s fighting talk, and we mean every word we say.”

Last year, 2,000 women took part in Race for Life at Witton Country Park and raised £76,269.

Money raised through Race for Life allows Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and scientists to advance research which is helping to save the lives of men, women and children across the North West.
