A 19-year-old man from Blackburn has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent.

Police are now looking to trace the woman, who was driving a dark coloured seven-seater Vauxhall vehicle.

DI Mark Vaughton, from Blackburn police, said she could have very important information that would help them trace the second man.

He said: “This appears to be a nasty assault involving an innocent member of the public, who has been enjoying an evening out in Blackburn town centre.

“One man has been arrested and we are actively seeking another in connection with the offence.

“I am thankful to the member of the public who intervened and assisted the victim and we are keen to speak to her to get a full account of what she may have seen.”
