Man 'glassed' in the face during row outside Blackburn pub

POLICE were called to the Brownhill Arms in Blackburn on ‘Mad Friday’ after reports that a man had been 'glassed' in the face.

DS Mark Saunders at Blackburn CID said: “The victim, from Blackburn, had been drinking inside the pub with a friend when he got into an argument with a group of people at around 1.15am on the Saturday morning.

“The argument moved outside where the 38-year-old was knocked to the ground and someone hit him around the side of the head with what is believed to be a pint glass.

“It is unclear whether the glass smashed, but he received cuts to his temple, which will probably have needed stitches. He was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.”

It is understood the man is now out of hospital and police are appealing for witnesses who saw the incident to come forward.

Police can be contacted on 101, or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

It certainly strengthens the argument for plastic glasses in all drinking establishments. The media could help by dumbing down the headline of mad Friday.

This is nowt compared to what happened outside last orders at 5.30pm on Friday night . Gang of Asian youths ran past smashing windows with bottles then attached teenage white youths with bottles close to the railway station for no reason , roads were closed off and police were everywhere , ( the editor of the lancashire evening telegraph needs to report it how it is to protect the public , then witness will come forward and threes animals will face justice , think its time we had another local paper ,reporting the truth not like watered down Lancashire evening telegraph that has no back bone :(

this town is as close to hell as you can get, chavs, thugs, terrorists and we allow people from thousands of miles away to wreck out traditions and institutions, our churches, our pubs, our shops and our football team, all gone, cos we've allowed it! and we will continue to allow it, cos we're all just gobby, keyboard warriors, cooped up in the safety of our homes, cos we daren't **** well venture out! We're finished...end of!
