AN East Lancashire chippy was named the second best in the North West.
Holly Tree Fish and Chips in Pinewood, Blackburn, was runner-up in the North West Chippy of the Year competition, in association with Holland’s Pies.
Leigh’s Green Lane Chippy won the top prize, voted for by the public, with 19,421 votes being cast in total.
As part of a campaign to raise awareness for chip shops in the North West, the competition asked chippy lovers everywhere to vote for their favourite local chip shop.
David Girdler, of Holland’s Pies, said: “This is a great success for Holly Tree Fish and Chips.
“We have had a record number of entries this year, which just goes to show how popular and loved local chip shops are among the local community. “All of the Holland’s chippies that were nominated for this campaign should be very proud.”
