RESIDENTS of a Blackburn road have been granted their wish for gates on their back alley after petitioning the borough council’s ruling executive board.

Senior councillors approved the request, by householders in Johnston Street, Wensley Fold, for the sealing off of the narrow thoroughfare behind their homes.

They were told by council officials that the request was in keeping with Blackburn with Darwen Council’s policy on fitting lockable alley gates, and met the minimum threshold for existing crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.

The alley gates scheme is likely to go ahead early next year.
