M65 closed after accident near Blackburn

The M65 has been closed between Junction 5 and 6 eastbound following an accident this evening.

A car is understood to have overturned just past the turning for Guide.

It is understood a lighting column was damaged in the incident at around 7.15pm forcing the closure of the motorway.

I was there lastnight 7:15pm coming from Cardiff, next exit was M65 NE Blackburn to Whitebirk which I live only 2 miles from there. Traffic Officers came rushing and overtook us, which we had to slow down then stopped. There was no traffic movement at all.....we ended up switching off engine, drivers / passengers were stepping out of car and all this lasted for 2 hours!
All drivers were asked to turn car round (facing opposite) and we were escorted out by Traffic Officers.
