A 36-YEAR-OLD man who interfered in the arrest of another man ended up being locked up himself.

Blackburn magistrates heard David Brian Moir told his friend he would ‘watch his back’ and film the officers on his mobile phone.

Moir made further abusive comments and when officers went to arrest him he struggled violently.

Moir, 36, of New Wellington Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour and obstructing a police officer. He was fined £175 and ordered to pay £105 costs.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said the other man was being arrested for being in breach of an anti-social behaviour order and their job had been made more difficult by Moir’s behaviour.

“It was broad daylight in the town centre and members of the public witnessed his behaviour.”
