HUNGRY people in Lancashire will be given a help this Christmas by Co-operative Food, ITV1’s Daybreak and the Salvation Army.

The You Can Help campaign will be launched on Monday, and aims to collect as many cans of food as possible in one week, with a target of a quarter-of-a-million cans.

Everyone can help by buying an extra can during their weekly shop and donating it at collection points.

The cans will be distributed to people in need in each region by the Salvation Army as part of food parcels and food for lunch clubs and winter shelters.

Collection points will be in place from Monday until to Sunday, December 2. Acceptable cans include meat, fish, vegetables, soup and fruit.

A list of participating stores will be available from Monday at www.co-operativefood.co.uk/ youcanhelp.
