FORMER Westholme pupil and Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan appears to be finding the I’m A Celebrity jungle a little tougher than she expected.

After a tree-top walk to the camp, followed by the realisation that she had forgotten waterproof mascara, she spent part of her first day in tears.

Viewers then voted for her to complete the first Bushtucker Trial alongside Nadine Dorries MP.

Speaking before the trial the actor said: “I’m actually really excited.

“I really expected for me to get the challenge today anyway but I think it’s a really good chance for me to redeem myself because obviously I looked like such a pathetic wimp doing the whole height thing because I’ve got a real phobia of heights about them, but I’m raring to go.

“I really want to prove myself and be strong on this trial and bring back the food.

“I’d be so proud of myself if I can win this trial because I don’t think I’ve won anything before and it would be a nice feeling and I’m going to be a champion jungle warrior princess.”

Helen then failed to win any food for her teammates after panicking during the insect trial.

The competitors had to lie in locked underground crates filled with crickets, maggots and cockroaches.

The 22-year-old shouted ‘I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!’ and was helped out seconds after the bugs began to enter her crate.

Helen sobbed after the trial: “I'm really struggling.

“I've even been thinking of going because I just don't know if I can hack it.”

One of the struggles Helen has is the lack of a hairdresser. She said: "I swear on my life I can't do my own hair.”

“We believe you," replied her campmates, amused with helen saying she spends £25 every two days getting her hair done.

Ex-Birds Of A Feather actress Linda Robson said: “Helen reminds me of a seven year old child.”
