A COUNCILLOR for the Vivary Bridge area of Colne has welcomed the council’s action against environmental crime in the area.

Between July and September the council brought 12 successful prosecution for issues ranging from Section 215 notices, which aims to improve the amenity of the local area, to issuing fixed penalty notices for dog fouling.

Coun Joe Cooney said: “I’m pleased that we continue to take action against those who repeatedly refuse to make improvements either to their properties or land which can have a real impact on the surrounding area.

“I’m also delighted that we continue to prosecute those who don’t pick up after their dogs.

“We have recently installed more bins around the ward so people have no excuse not to use them.It is pure laziness and nothing else.”

If you see anyone in charge of a dog fouling you can report it by calling 01282 661743 or online at pendle.gov.uk/forms.
