Dementia ‘buddies’ needed in Blackburn and Darwen
1:20pm Friday 9th November 2012 in Blackburn
AGE UK Blackburn with Darwen is urgently seeking volunteers to help with a new project it is trialling.
The Dementia Buddy Scheme aims to support older people in the early stages of dementia to attend Ageing Well activity sessions, such as walk groups, or exercise classes.
Volunteers are needed for a couple of hours a week to help people participate, by prompting, reminding, and encouraging them. Full training will be provided, and out-of-pocket travel expenses are available. For further information, contact Fran Breckell on 01254 266620.
